PANJIM: Goa reported two more positive cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, taking total State’s tally to five cases. Total eight people, who came in contact with these, are quarantined in government centres.
Addressing media persons, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant said that two persons, have tested positive for coronavirus, one with travel history. “While the second person, who was already in isolation, is the brother of the one who tested positive earlier,” he said.

Sources reveal that the person, with travel history, was on the ship and had left Bahamas and arrived in Goa via New York and then took domestic flight via Mumbai.
“The best part is that he had self-quarantined himself soon after landing in Goa and did not came even in contact with his family members,” Sawant revealed.
“In case of second patient, who tested positive, the report of his other family members have come negative,” Chief Minister said adding that ‘of the total 55 samples sent for testing, 52 reports are negative, while one is still awaited’.
Chief Minister said all the five positive patients, are shifted to COVID hospital in Margao.
“With reports of all other coming negative, many would be discharged, while few would be shifted out of isolation ward of GMC and would be placed in quarantine centres,” he added.
“If Goa, did not report any new case in next 15 days, then we could say that the State is in safer zone,” he said.
As per Health Bulletin, there are total three passengers in quarantine facility, while 17 passengers in home quarantine.
Apart from eight, who were admitted in isolation ward of GMC on Sunday, there are two more patients.
Sawant informed that the new South Goa district hospital, which will be partially functional from Monday, will be used as quarantined centre. “After 15 days, it would be fully functional but continue to run as quarantine unit,” he said.
The Chief Minister said that the virology lab will also start to function fully from Monday and all the tests would be done. He said 2500 testing kits are currently available.
He said the government has ordered for 100 ventilators and if required, more would be required from private hospitals.
