MARGAO: Goa Saras which is a platform for self help groups to market their products, will be held from January 11 to 22 at SGPDA ground Margao with the 200 stalls already booked. Besides groups from Goa, women from 18 other States will also be participating in the exhibition.
Rural Development Minister Jayesh Salgaonkar briefing media persons said last year business worth Rs 1.08 crore was transacted at Goa Saras held in Margao while the one held recently in Panjim had business worth Rs 1.25 crore being transacted.
While the Centre funds 60 per cent of the cost of hosting Saras, the State contributed the balance 40 per cent and last year the expenses to host the same was Rs 80 lakh of which the major expenditure was on erecting the pandal, Jayesh said.
