Goa sees highest single day COVID deaths on Sunday

52 succumb; 1255 patients discharged

PANJIM: As many as 52 persons succumbed to COVID-19 infection and 2030 fresh cases were reported in the State during the last 24 hours taking the total death toll to 1274 and 95,385 respectively.  

On the other hand, 1255 patients were discharged during the day taking the overall count of recoveries to 69,504.

There are now 24,607 active COVID-19 cases in the State, according to the directorate of health services. 

Of the total 24,607 active positive cases, the highest 1621 cases have been reported at the primary health centre, Candolim followed by 1561 cases at urban health centre, Panjim, 1375 cases at primary health centre, Porvorim and 1314 cases at the urban health centre, Mapusa.

Meanwhile, in view of the rising COVID-19 infected patients being admitted in hospitals, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Sunday reviewed arrangements at the Goa Medical College super-specialty block at Bambolim, the floor that will be commissioned for the COVID Care facility. 

“We checked on the arrival of beds, air-conditions and other equipment that is yet to arrive. During my visit, also assured staff requirement in order to provide state-of-the-art care,” Rane said.
