Goa Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar has ordered an inquiry into the death of 26-year-old footballer Dailon Nathalino Carvalho, who collapsed while participating in a football match at Dando Ground in Benaulim.

Carvalho, a resident of Ambaulim in Quepem, reportedly collapsed on the field during the match and later died, prompting widespread concern within Goa’s football community.

In response to the incident, Tawadkar directed the concerned authorities to conduct a detailed inquiry to ascertain the circumstances leading to the footballer’s death and determine whether all necessary safety and medical protocols were in place during the match.

The inquiry is expected to examine the sequence of events, the availability of emergency medical facilities at the venue and any other factors relevant to the tragic incident.

The death of the young footballer has sparked renewed discussions on the need for stringent medical preparedness and player safety measures during football tournaments and sporting events across the State.
