Goans are still reeling
under the double murder of two innocent kids and suicide by the father, in
Candolim, due to unanswered questions. Most who knew Joy Fernandes described
him to be a good person and outgoing social worker and a lover of Konkani. What
led to this tragic turn of events is still not known. Though the family was
financially well off and the wife was a teacher, Joy had changed many jobs from
working in Tiatr Academy to being a estate incharge for Padre Conceicao
college. In the wake of such tragic developments, is there a need to focus in a
big way on family counselling and mental health?
Joy’s eight year old son Joseph was to receive first holy
communion on January 15 and he had even ooked at hall at Penha da Franca for
the celebration. He had also bagged a contract to run the canteen at Fr Agnel
Central School at Pilar from January 16th 2023.
Sources said that few days before Joy had handed over the papers
of the ancestral house to a relative and when asked why he did this he said
that he would ask for them when required.
