The Directorate of Agriculture has announced plans to establish nearly 200 biogas projects across Goa this year as part of the state’s push towards renewable and sustainable energy.
Officials said the scheme will provide subsidy support for biogas units that meet pre-approved technology standards laid down by the department.

According to the Agriculture Directorate, the initiative aims to promote eco-friendly energy solutions in rural areas while reducing dependence on conventional fuel sources.
Under the scheme, individual farmers and cattle shed owners will be eligible to receive financial assistance for the installation of biogas plants.
Authorities stated that the newer biogas systems are easier to install, require minimal maintenance and come with a warranty period of up to 25 years, making them more efficient and cost-effective for long-term use.
The initiative is expected to encourage wider adoption of clean energy practices among rural households and agricultural communities in Goa.
