PANJIM: The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) has alleged that the State’s recovery owing to destruction through the three linear projects will take at least 500 years.
GPCC President Girish Chodankar stated the projects — railway double tracking, Tanmar 400 KV power line and national highway passing though the Western Ghats, will destroy Goa’s environment and wildlife.
“It will take 500 years for Goa to recover from mass destruction of environment, forest and wildlife if BJP’s Three Linear Projects are allowed in Goa. Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant and BJP are planning of making their own fortunes for next 50 years from the crony capitalist club of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he alleged, in a statement issued soon after CM’s remark at an event at Savordem Railway Station, about government’s firm decision to go-ahead with the projects.
The Opposition further alleged that “defective Chief Minister” has become a puppet with his strings in the hands of Modi-Shah and “dancing on the tunes of crony capitalists.”
“He (CM) has pushed the State into bankruptcy and created financial emergency which has resulted in collapse of every household budget,” claimed Chodankar.
“Power Minister Nilesh Cabral has also gone on record on the floor of the Assembly that after the power transmission lines are laid and commissioning of Tanmar Project, the Railway Engines carrying coal wagons will move speedily and will not need four engines like now. This exposes the fact that the three linear projects are primarily to boost coal transportation,” he further alleged adding that Congress Party will continue to oppose all projects which will destroy the identity of Goa.
