MARGAO: The Goa Gold Dealers Association (GGDA) has sponsored and donated a ‘Police Assistance Booth’ near the Margao Municipality to the police department on Thursday.
This booth has replaced the police watch tower which was erected for security purpose. The cost of the booth is Rs 2,00,000. This police assistance booth is fully equipped with wireless charging facility, fan, police helpline numbers and it is solar powered.
The booth is expected to provide round the clock security not only to the jewellers but also other shops and the public at large. There are nearly 50 jewellery shops within the close vicinity of this booth. GGDA is also planning to install two more such booths in Margao, in the near future, subject to land availability.
