Govt has failed youth of Goa: AAP

MARGAO: Reacting to the recent altercation between youth and police at Cuncolim, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Convenor Elvis Gomes squarely blamed the Government for failing the youth of the State.
AAP also stated that they felt the situation could have been handled differently and added that no one should condone the behavior of the youth.
“Police can always show a professional approach and handle it better by not slapping criminal charges. But as a welfare measure, they should organise a counselling session for the youth and ensure they are let off with sound advice” said Gomes.
He added that AAP has youth welfare as a focus area and that AAP’s initiatives for youth have succeeded.
He further requested that the Police not look at the incident as a criminal act even if some undesirable exchange of words or altercation has taken place.
He said the youth and their families are paying a price as the government had no agenda for the youth to ensure their gainful employment.
“The government is all the time in celebration mode and officially promotes liquor through State sponsored wine festivals and festivals where youth die. It’s time the youth in the state realise their fate and start helping themselves by changing the dirty politics that ruins their own future” said Gomes.
