PANJIM: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Friday said that the government will set up both – AYUSH Hospital and the community health centre (CHC) at the old Ribandar hospital.
Dr Sawant along with Panjim MLA Atanasio ‘Babush’ Monserrate visited the old medical college premises at Ribandar. He said that the government aims to start community health centre (CHC) taking into account the demand of its people and its surrounding areas.
The Chief Minister directed the director of higher education to allocate required place in the premises to the directorate of health services so as to start the community health centre before August 15 this year.
Suggesting initiating the procedure to hand over the place to health department, the Chief Minister directed the director of health services to recruit required number of staff for the new CHC Ribandar.
The Chief Minister inspected the building along with CCP Mayor Rohit Monserrate and members of his council; director of higher education Prasad Lolayekar; director of health services Dr Jose D’Sa and others.
On Wednesday, social activist adv Aires Rodrigues had said that both, the Chief Minister and the Panjim MLA had reneged their promise to set up a health centre at Ribandar.
“It is very unfortunate and highly deplorable that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has made a U-turn and now directed that the old Ribandar hospital premises be given to the AYUSH Ministry,” adv Rodrigues said.
