VALPOI: It may sound strange but the ground reality is that Sattari’s first Government Primary School at Velus lacks basic facilities.
The primary School, Velus which started in 1963, soon after Goa’s Liberation now needs urgent repairs.
During monsoon the rainwater seeps through the roof which has developed many leakages. To add to this, the school has no proper compound wall, besides the toilets are in a bad shape and the area around the premises is uneven as the students cannot play. Velus villagers have demand that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant provide their school with proper basic facilities.
“This school in our village is the first Government Primary School in Sattari taluka. But now our village school is in a bad shape. It needs to be repaired on priority basis. The school building lacks basic facilities. So we demand that the Chief Minister repair our village school and provide it with proper basic facilities,” demanded Mahadev Gurav, a villager.
Another local Abhishek Gaonkar said, “If we have to maintain the Government Primary Schools in the villages of Sattari then the Government should provide all basic facilities and quality teachers. Our village school has quality teachers but it lacks basic facilities. We demand that Government provide our school with basic facilities.”
