Govt rejects Cong claim on Ivermectin

PANJIM: With the Opposition Congress Party continuing its charge that there is scam in the purchase on Ivermectin tablets, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Monday challenged Congress President Girish Chodankar to have better fact-checking tool and to come for debate over alleged tablets scam.

Taking to Twitter, Chodankar said, “Invermectin ‘scam from scam’ by the BJP government after Congress warning against use of said tablets without clinical trials as per the WHO (World Health Organisation) guidelines, Rs 22.50 crore Ivermectin tablets disappeared. Golmaal exposed.” 

He said that he enquired with the people, at least 15 health centres and also anganwadis and found that the government was yet to distribute these tablets. 

Immediately Rane posted several tweets countering Chodankar’s allegations.

Many States have replicated Goa’s model of Prophylaxis treatment, may be Girish Chodankar is unaware of this and needs better tools to under current affairs. If Chodankar wants to have a debate, please come with updated and clear cut facts, Rane said.

“I would like to know Chodankar’s contribution to the State of Goa. The BJP government has done what Congress could not do, cater to state-of-the-art and quality treatment to the citizens of the State during this unprecedented time,” he said.

Yet in another tweet, the Health Minister said, “It looks like the Congress Party needs better fact-checking tools.
