PANJIM: The Aam Aadmi Party has accused the government of resuming schools at a time when Goa has already entered community transmission stage.
AAP criticised the alliance of Congress and BJP, which it says is Congress Janata Party having no intentions to work for the betterment of Goans.
“At a time when the number of COVID-19 cases in Goa is on the rise, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Health Minister Vishwajit Rane are continuing to be arrogant. Rane mentioned that the “storm is over” when there is a clear spike in the number of COVID-19 cases whereas the CM said they don’t need to learn from anyone. CM said that he will open schools in a phased manner from Sept 20 with the COVID-19 graph increasing,” Surel Tilve, AAP spokesperson said.
He alleged that CM has taken this decision despite admitting community transmission in Goa. “Only a clueless CM can take decisions like this,” he added.
Tilve alleged that every time AAP exposes the BJP government’s inability to work for the Goans, Congress targets them as an ally to BJP. “Congress has started a campaign that AAP is spending Rs 50 crore in Goa. It’s a joke. A party which has made Goa a den of corruption through the decades is accusing honest parties now. By doing this, they are also accusing the media of being corrupt. First they attack Goans, now they attack media. Media in Goa has been the only one highlighting the corruption in Health Department during corona and the gross mismanagement in the State. They are probably getting confused with the amount they got paid by the BJP to buy their MLAs,” he charged.
The party claimed that they have been continuously pressurising the government to provide better health facilities to Goans to help face this COVID-19 pandemic, while Congress were “busy selling yourself to BJP.”
“The truth is BJP and Congress do not want to work for the interest of Goa and they have problem if someone else does it. ‘Goans against Corona’ campaign is the initiative driven by Goans and they realise that the people are discontent with the way the government is managing corona and especially the way Congress has also been silent on this entire matter,” Tilve said.
Goans against Corona initiative was launched by AAP on September 9.
