PANJIM: The Goa government has discontinued the scheme for ‘Promotion of Electric Vehicle in the State of Goa’ with effect from July 31, 2022.
However, the Electric Vehicle Policy will be in force, according to the Department of New and Renewable Energy.
The NRE Department said that all electrical two-wheelers, three-wheelers and four-wheelers purchased on or after December 16, 2021, and on or before July 31, 2022, will be eligible for subsidy subject to a maximum number of electric vehicles as specified in the scheme.
Amongst EVs, the first 3,000 two-wheelers, 60 three-wheelers and 300 four-wheelers will be given subsidies provided they meet other criteria. The State government is learnt to have released Rs 5.5 crore towards the subsidy. Though the scheme for “Promotion of Electric Vehicle was notified in December last year, the government had not reached the upper ceiling.
