PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday announced the government has decided to invest Rs 60 crore in the field of Technical Education through the launch of DJ-GIFT Scheme.

“This is our vision towards attracting more youth towards technical education who will build the future of Goa,” said Sawant, while adding that the scheme is a gift for rural students belonging to lower economic backgrounds.
He added that 10,650 students from 15 colleges will benefit from the scheme and that all students with Goan domicile are eligible.
He said they want to ensure that no student misses out on technical education and that financial assistance is provided towards fees payable.
Furthermore, at the function organised at the Directorate of Technical Education, letters of appointments in different companies from the sector of Pharmaceuticals, Ship Building, Mechanical etc. were handed over to students from various Engineering Colleges of Goa.
Under the Chief Minister Apprenticeship Scheme programme Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) were also exchanged between 12 reputed firms.
Five best ITI instructors’ awards in different disciplines were presented to Narayan Salgaonkar and Premanand Naik in Electrician trade; Vinod Satkalkar in Fitter trade; Lerna Parab in Computer Operation; and Shambhurao Harmalkar in Stenography and Secretarial Practice.
