Goa Police fined for delay in filing affidavit

PANJIM: The High Court of Bombay at Goa on Thursday imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on Goa Police for delaying filing affidavit pertaining to a petition filed by a constable.

The Bench has further taking a serious view of delays in filing affidavits by government officers. 

While hearing a plea by Constable Prasad Shirodkar against non-payment of TA/DA upon his transfer to another place of posting, the High Court observed that affidavit from the respondent Office of Director General of Police has been delayed thrice in form of seeking adjournments. The court also warned of taking serious view if the affidavit or payment of cost is further delayed and adjourned the matter to July 26.
