NEW DELHI: Forget any kind of privacy on the Internet. The government is ready with a mechanism to snoop on all Internet traffic in the name of “national security” without any legal authorisation as such.
All your tweets, emails, sms, status updates, messaging transcripts, blogs and voice calls through Skype and Google Talk will be under the watch of the government sleuths, using the most sophisticated “Netra” Internet surveillance system developed indigenously by a Defence Ministry lab.
Be careful of using any dubious word like bomb, blast, kill, attack or terror as they may attract a knock at your door since the new spy system to be launched soon will detect them all in a matter of seconds. Even if not a knock at the door, you will be certainly put under surveillance and your past and future communications on the Internet will be under check.
The system has been developed by the Bangalore-based Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIR), a lab of DRDO. CAIR is coordinating with C-DoT, the government’s telecom technology arm, to formalise a strategy for tracking the Internet use.
Sources said it will be accessible by all national security and intelligence agencies as it provides multiple user access simultaneously. The system is under test in the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and its foreign intelligence counterpart RAW (Research and Analysis Wing).
