PORVORIM: Archives and Archaeology Minister Subhash Phal Desai assured the MLAs to take steps to preserve the monuments and places of historical importance including the forts across the State.
Pernem MLA Pravin Arlekar brought to the notice of the House that many such monuments and places of archival/archaeological /historical importance are in privately owned lands and demanded the Government to acquire such lands to preserve our rich historical sites and monuments.
Other MLAs across party lines endorsed Arlekar’s views and pointed out that the monuments and places of historical importance in their respective constituencies needed urgent attention.
Responding to the MLAs, Phal Desai assured to do everything possible and also seek support from the central government in preserving the monuments and places of historical importance.
