1 PM Narendra Modi will inaugurate National Games: Sports Minister Porvorim: Sports Minister Govind Gaude on Friday informed the Legislative Assembly that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the National Games, scheduled in the State in October this year.
”The National Games are being held in the State after almost a decade of announcement. The games will start on October 25 and end on November 9, 2023. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the National Games,” he said while replying during discussion on demands for grants for the Department of Sports for the current financial year.

Gaude informed the House that the cash prizes, which were pending with the Department of Sports would be awarded to medal winners before the ensuing Ganesh Chaturthi festival.
Gaude admitted that there was a shortage of swimming coaches in the State. “We are facing difficulty in getting coaches. However, we are in the process of recruiting the staff for the swimming pools,” he added.
2 Tatas interested in setting up new industries in the State: Minister
Porvorim: Industries Minister Mauvin Godinho on Friday stated in the Legislative Assembly that Tata Group of Companies is very much interested in setting up new industries in the State as part of its expansion plans.
“Already renowned Tata Group has presence in the State and they are manufacturing the most sophisticated machines in the State,” Godinho said while replying to a starred question tabled by Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai regarding promotion of Goan industry. The Minister said that a Task Force will be set up within a week so as to interact with the Board of Tata Sons Natarajan Chandrasekaran with the help of industries association and captains of industry. The interaction will be held on monthly basis, he added.
3 ’All subordinate courts in Panjim to will be shifted to new building near Merces’
Porvorim: Law Minister Nilesh Cabral informed Members in the Legislative Assembly that by 2024, all the courts will be shifted to a new building which is coming up near Merces in Santa Cruz constituency. “We are constructing many court buildings. The court in Mapusa is in rented premises. I am following it up with GSIDC. I am monitoring work regarding the court building which is coming up in Santa Cruz constituency. By 2024, if everything goes well, we will shift entire courts to the new building. The administrative tribunals will also be shifted there,” he said while replying during discussion on demands for grants for the Law Department.
Cabral said the work order has been issued for construction of a court building in Margao. The Law Minister said the posts of President and Vice President of the Administrative Tribunal will be filled up soon.
