Former Deputy Chief Minister and Goa Kala Academy Chairman Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlekar has welcomed the notification implementing political reservation for the Scheduled Tribe (ST) community in Goa, while congratulating Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant for what he described as a key role in securing justice for the community.
Kavlekar said political reservation was a rightful entitlement of the ST community, which had undertaken a prolonged struggle to secure the provision.
“At last, they have received justice,” Kavlekar said, welcoming the notification as an important step towards implementing political reservation for the ST community.
He said he had consistently supported the ST community’s campaign for political reservation and maintained that the notification marks significant progress in the process of ensuring representation for the community.
Kavlekar warmly welcomed the government’s move and congratulated Chief Minister Pramod Sawant for his role in advancing the issue.
