QUEPEM: The Quepem Adivasi Sangatana along with the affected farmers of Quepem on Saturday submitted a memorandum to Quepem Deputy Collector Nilesh Dhaigodkar demanding immediate inspection to assess the damage caused to the paddy fields due to recent incessant rains.

On the behalf of the affected farmers, the Quepem Adivasi Sangatana urges the government to compensate the affected farmers.

The memorandum stated that most of the community members are still in the agriculture sector, which is their lifeline. Due to recent incessant rains in the present kharif paddy season, most of the paddy fields in Quepem Taluka have been damaged thereby causing extensive loss to the farmers.

Further, it stated that presently the paddy fields have been ripped for harvesting, which will start from the coming week onwards. We request that it will be very helpful if the government directs the responsible authority (Agriculture Department) to inspect and assess the damage caused to the paddy fields. The Agriculture Department’s direction and support will give relief in some extent to compensate the farmers.
