PANJIM: At the backdrop of BJP senior MLA Michael Lobo’s outburst against his own government, the Congress party in Goa on Sunday claimed that the Manohar Parrikar-led coalition government will “collapse on its own”.
Addressing media persons, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Girish Chodankar said that Congress doesn’t require Vijai Sardesai (a minister in Parrikar government) to topple the government as in the current situation it would collapse on its own. “We don’t need Vijai to topple the government or form new government. Many from ruling are in touch with us…they are regularly contacting us…this government will collapse on its own,” Chodankar said adding, “We are looking forward to provide good governance to the people.”
Taking a dig at the government, the Congress leader said, “Where is the government? You show me and then let us talk about toppling or destabilizing it.” He said that there are many Kans (mythology demon) in the current government and they would be finished by our Krishna (spokespersons).
Sardesai-led Goa Forward party is part of BJP-led coalition government in the State.
Reacting to Calangute BJP MLA Michael Lobo’s outburst, Chodankar said that finally BJP leaders have started publicly admitting that all is not well with the government. “What Congress was saying all this while and BJP was denying, is finally admitted by BJP’s own senior MLA. Hence, we demand that at least now BJP should stop its denials,” he said.
On Friday, Lobo claimed that there was complete administrative collapse in absence of ailing chief minister and that there were over 3000 job vacancies in various government departments. He even blamed the BJP government at State and Centre for failing to resolve mining issue.
Chodankar further said that BJP needs to consider the suggestion of Lobo that his party should not fill form for Lok Sabha polls as there is lot of frustration amongst people against the government. “BJP will not get even 1/4th of the total votes it managed to get in the last election,” he predicted.
