MARGAO: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Girish Chodankar on Monday condemned the BJP government for failing to give proper replies to the questions raised by the opposition in the ongoing Assembly session, and demanded the governor to dismiss the government at the earliest.
He has also condemned the act of the BJP government to survey the churches in Karnataka and alleged that it is an attempt to polarise the votes and create fear amongst the minority.
Addressing the media on the sideline of the induction function of few youth leaders into the party, he along with South Goa District President Joe Dias and Congress leader MK Shaikh urged the government not to call any more assembly sessions.
“The Congress party had been raising several public related questions but the government failed to answer them. We were expecting that at least the Chief Minister and ministers will reply to the questions in the assembly session. Unfortunately they failed,” said Girish.
He further charged the BJP government and said now it has been proven that this government is insensitive and irresponsible.
“This BJP government has no right to remain in power and hence we urge the Governor to dismiss immediately,” he demanded.
Reacting to the initiative by the BJP government at Karnataka to conduct a survey of the Churches, GPCC President questioned why only survey of religious places of one community?
“The aim of conducting surveys of Churches in Karnataka is targeted at elections in Goa. We must keep in mind that this government in Goa had been in power with the help of MLAs who won on the secular votes. The BJP has intentions of polarisation. They are planning to create fear amongst the minority,” he alleged.
Girish urged the MLAs from minority communities supporting the BJP government in the state to pressurise the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant in order to stop him doing such low level politics in Goa also.
