VASCO: GPCC vice president Sankalp Amonkar along with locals from Headland Sada quizzed Executive engineer of Electricity department in Vasco over the issue of exorbitant increase in power tariff. Amonkar protested about the sudden increase in power bill tariff and has demanded that the government should wave off at least two months bills.
After the meeting, Amonkar said “Before people were receiving bills between Rs 300 to Rs 500 and now the people have received electricity bills ranging from Rs 3000 to Rs 4000 and more for two months which is shocking for the common man”.
Amonkar further said that he asked the officer whether the tariff was increased by the Govt or whether some error in office has occurred, the officer said that he will have to find out about the same. “People have faced lots of issues in Coronvirus pandemic due to lockdown. On economic front all are suffering and therefore how are they suppose to pay hefty amount”? he questioned.
He concluded stating that the Govt should scrap these electricity bills of two months and give relief to the people who are already in bad phase. He also warned that if no action is initiated on this issue, he will take this issue with higher authorities.
