CUNCOLIM: Bharat Mata Ki Jai, a State-level organisation has demanded that the Cuncolim’s 1583 revolt be included in school syllabus.
Organisation chief Subhash Velingkar also demanded that the State government come out with a documentary on the revolt and celebrate July 15 as a State function.
He was addressing organisation’s South Goa frontline activists and locals at the Goa Liberation Day function organised at Cuncolim Chieftains Memorial to pay tribute to 16 chieftains.
Velingkar warned the government that if this demand is not met then the organisation would be forced to start second revolt in Cuncolim with support of Cuncolkars.
“It is unfortunate that all successive governments have failed to recognise Cuncolim 1583 revolt which is first revolt against the foreign rulers in Asia. Ruling BJP government’s two former Chief Ministers and present Chief Minister had promised to recognise Cuncolim Revolt but nothing has been done in this regard,” he said.
