PANJIM: Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) played host to 32 children afflicted with cancer and undergoing treatment in Mumbai, providing them a three-day holiday along with their parents and doctors in Goa.
The children arrived in Goa by train on November 18 and were charmed by the special hospitality arrangements made by GTDC.
According to GTDC officials, the children were taken on special guided tours of tourist spots in the North and South Goa, including the Calangute and Miramar beaches, temples and churches at Mangueshi and Old Goa respectively.
A special one-hour boat cruise on Santa Monica was also arranged on River Mandovi and a Goan cultural programme was presented on board the cruise vessel.
“We provided all the facilities that the children needed during their stay in Goa and ensured they had a truly enjoyable stay,” GTDC Chairman Nilesh Cabral said.
GTDC organises holidays for special children as part of the Corporate Social Responsibility. “Most of the children are undergoing treatment for cancer at various stages at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai and providing them with a splendid holiday adds cheer to their life,” he said.
