GU accused released on bail

PANJIM: Agassiam Police could not take any action against the
security supervisor of the Goa University as victim (female security guard)
denied the charges made in the complaint by hostel warden.

Police Inspector of Agassiam Police Station Santosh Desai
said that the police had conducted a detail investigation in the complaint
filed by the Goa University officials and even arrested the accused who hail
from Assam. He informed that due to non cooperation from the alleged victim the
police have to arrest the accuse under 151 CrPc and released on bail.

“The victim was not cooperated with us and she has denied the
charges completely which were alleged. We have asked her to inform police if
any incident of harassment had taken place but till now she has not responded,”
Desai said.

He informed that the detail statement of the victim is also
recorded by the police in the presence of NGO.

It may be recalled that, Goa University officials have
complained with the Agassiam Police Station that security supervisor is
involved in harassing the female security guards who were deployed in the night
duty following the oral complaint from the victim and the students.

University has already sacked the security supervisor following
the allegations and complaints even from the students residing in the female
hostels that he was also passing vulgar comments on the students and entering
the hostel without permission at any time of the night.

Goa University has assured that complete security
arrangements will be revived and strengthened for safer campus.
