PANJIM: The alleged assault on strikers today saw a token hunger strike by striking security workers demanding action against DYSP Serafin Dias for allegedly manhandling them. People including politicians who had come to show their support for striking workers condemned the police action.
It may be recalled that yesterday they had received yet another verbal assurance from Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar about being absorbed as security guards or housekeeping jobs in government’s departments.
After a meeting with Parsekar, WRD Minister Dayanand Mandrekar and Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar on Friday, the members were assured of being placed within a month with a promise of advertisements for the posts to be released in 15 days.
