PONDA: A 40-year-old woman from Khandepar-Ponda died, while her two sisters were seriously injured when a milk carrying tempo dashed against them at Borim in the wee hours of Sunday.
According to Ponda police, Dakshata alias Gouri Jalmi who was walking along the roadside died on the spot, while her other two sisters were seriously injured when the speeding milk carrying tempo dashed against them at Borim at about 4.45 am.
Police further informed that Dakshata and her two sisters had gone to their mother’s house at Borim on Saturday.
Police said on Sunday morning, they were proceeding with other women to observe traditional rituals at a temple in the village. However, while they were on their way to offer fruits and prayers at the temple located near Satyanarayan temple to take part in the Rahotostav celebration, the speeding tempo dashed them.
The deceased is survived by husband, a four-year-old son and nine-year-old daughter.
Police said one sister was shifted to GMC Hospital in Bambolim, while the other woman was shifted to Ponda Sub District Hospital. Police is investigating the case.
