MARGAO: The Guirdolim gram sabha on Sunday while resolving to develop and beautify the natural spring at Jitlem in the village also amended an earlier resolution to permit the panchayat to issue provisional licence to a party to construct a compound wall in his property.
The gram sabha resolved to write to the Water Resources Department to develop and beautify the spring at Jitlem which was earlier used for medicinal purpose. It was also decided to write to the Guirdolim comunidade to seek its permission to improve the spring.
The gram sabha also resolved to allow the panchayat to grant licence to construct a compound wall to the property under Survey no. 112 where 31 plots were developed and sold and people are waiting to construct their houses.
Earlier, the panchayat was asked not to issue the licence till the owner allotted land for a ground in the village. The owner has reportedly donated around 9100 square metres of land to the panchayat for a ground and hence the villagers said the licence to construct the compound wall may be given.
After the regular gram sabha a special gram sabha was held to celebrate World Environment Day at which Savio Antao from the village gave a talk on environment and the need to protect it. He also spoke on how the environment could be saved by doing simple things and taking small steps.
