Guv, CM extend Dussehra greetings

PANJIM: Governor, P S Sreedharan Pillai and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday extended their greetings and best wishes to the people of Goa on the festive occasion of Dussehra.

The Governor in his message has said that Dussehra is also known as Vijayadashami. Dussehra is one of the most significant Hindu festivals that mark the end of Navratri. Dussehra is a celebration of the victory of good over evil The day is celebrated to commemorate the victory of Lord Rama over Ravana and this day also celebrates the victory of Goddess Durga over the demon Mahishasura.

The Governor has further stated that the Dussehra festival inspires us to follow the path of Dharma (righteousness) and truth. 

“It reminds us that good always triumphs over evil. This festival strengthens our national integration and reaffirms our abiding faith in the concept of unity in diversity,” he stated.

CM in his message said, “Dussehra is celebrated with great enthusiasm and spiritual fervour all over the nation. It is a festival of joy and gaiety. Dussehra is a pious and principled path represented by the life and deeds of Lord Rama. Dussehra or ‘Vijayadashmi’ indicates the victory of Lord Rama over Ravana and is celebrated as a festival of victory of good over evil. It also honours Goddess Durga’s battle against Mahishasura, fighting the evil forces”.
