PANJIM: Sadabahar, a Konkani film directed by Suyash Kamat, India’s Oscar entry “2018-Everyone Is A Hero”, “The Kerala Story” and “The Vaccine War” are part of the Indian Panorama, to be screened at 54th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2023 Goa from November 20-28 this year.
Indian Panorama, the flagship component of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), announced the section of 25 feature films and 20 non-feature films, with ‘Aattam, (Malayalam)’ will be the opening feature film, and ‘Andro Dreams (Manipuri)’ will be the opening non-feature film in the Indian Panorama section 2023.

The selection of films is made by eminent personalities from the cinema world. The feature film jury comprising 12 members was headed by acclaimed film director, actor and producer, Chairperson Dr T S Nagabharana. Acclaimed documentary film Director Arvind Sinha headed the six-member non-feature films section jury.
The 25 feature films include eight in Hindi, seven in Malayalam, four in Tamil, three Bengali, two Kannada and one in Karbi. These films are ‘Aattam’, ‘Iratta’, ‘Kaathal’, ‘Malikappuram’, ‘Nna Thaan Case Kodu’, ‘Pookkaalam’ and ‘2018 Everyone Is A Hero’ (all in Malayalam); ‘Dhai Aakhar’, ‘Mandali’, ‘The Vaccine War’,
‘Sanaa’, ‘Vadh’, ‘Gulmohar’, ‘Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai’ and ‘The Kerala Story’ (Hindi); ‘Kaadhal Enbathu Pothu Udamai’, ‘Neela Nira Sooriyan’, ‘Viduthalai Part 1’ and ‘Ponniyin Selvan- Part 2’ (all in Tamil); ‘Ardhangini’, ‘Deep Fridge’ and ‘Rabindra Kabya Rahasya’ (all in Bengali), ‘Aaraariraaro’ and ‘Kantara’ (both in Kannada) and ‘Mirbeen’ (Karbi).
A package of 20 non-feature films have been selected from a broad spectrum of 239 contemporary Indian non-feature films. The package of non-feature films exemplifies the capacity of emerging and established filmmakers to document, investigate, entertain and also reflect contemporary Indian values, states a press release.
These films include three each in Hindi, Marathi and Assamese, two each in English and Manipuri and one each in Tamil, Dogri, Mizo, Malayalam, Oriya, Konkani and one film in multilingual i.e. Hindi, Tamil, Assamese, Bengali and English.
The Indian Panorama was introduced in 1978 as part of the IFFI umbrella to promote Indian films along with India’s rich culture and heritage with the help of cinematic art. Since its inception, the Indian Panorama has been completely devoted to showcasing the best Indian films of the year.
The selected films for Indian Panorama section, with an aim for the promotion of film art through, will also be screened for non-profit screening in international film festivals in India and abroad, Indian Film Weeks held under Bilateral Cultural Exchange Programmes and Specialised Indian Film Festivals outside cultural exchange protocols, and special Indian Panorama festivals in India, states a press release.
