Guv hosts elderly, PwDs at Raj Bhavan

MARGAO: Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai interacted with the elderly and people with disabilities (PwDs) from most of the shelter homes of Goa, at the lawns of Raj Bhavan, Dona Paula, on Friday.

The function was held in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlekar and Secretary to Governor Mihir Vardhan, IAS. The invitees were gathered at the Raj Bhavan after receiving an invitation from the Governor. 

“It’s an honour to meet such a prestigious person. We are extremely privileged to receive an invitation from our Governor,” said one of the invitees. 

I bet I wouldn’t have got to visit such a beautiful place, added another while paying their gratitude to Governor’s invitation. 

“I’m of the opinion that senior citizens should be allowed to visit Raj Bhavan, so as to fulfill their wish that they might have, of visiting this place,” said Governor Pillai.

Members from El-Shaddai Charity Institute, Missionaries of Charity, Quepem and Fatorpa and other shelter homes responded positively to the invitation of the Governor. 

The Raj Bhavan initiated this step from the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra  Modi. Around 60 people along with their caretakers participated in the function.
