GVK EMRI attended to 5,09,832 cases in last 12 years

PANJIM: GVK EMRI, the emergency ambulance service introduced in Goa in 2008, has attended to 5,09,832 cases in last 12 years since its inception. 

The service, which was launched in 2008, completed 12 years of its association with State Health Department on Thursday. In 2018, the government had signed a MoU with GVK EMRI extending its term for another ten years till 2028. 

Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said in the last 12 years, the facility has answered to 30,34,992 calls and availed 5,09,832 cases out of which major trauma-related emergencies were also handled. 

He said the service, which was launched initially with 18 ambulances, today has 93 in its fleet that includes 35 bike ambulances, five cardiac care, 2 neonatal, 40 advanced life support and 1 VVIP ambulance and 10 hearse vans. 

Government spends annually around Rs 50 lakh on training ambulance staff.
