H1N1: Throat swab samples sent for testing

Five throat swab samples of suspected cases of H1N1 influenza have been sent to National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD), Delhi for testing.
These samples are of patients of which three are from GMC, one each from Hospicio Hospital, Margao and a private hospital.
A press note issued here stated that another throat swab received from a private hospital from North Goa in the evening will be sent later.
An orientation training was conducted by the Officers of Directorate of Health Services for the medical and paramedical staff of Manipal Hospital, Dona Paula.
Suspected cases of H1N1 being treated as out patients and advised home quarantine: at Cottage Hospital, Chicalim – 2, Asilo Hospital, Mapusa – 1 Hospicio Hospital, Margao – 6, GMC – nil and private hospital – 1.
At the passenger screening post at the arrival lounge of Dabolim Airport, 52 international passengers were screened on Wednesday, which brings the total number of passengers screened at the airport till date to 18,613. At the domestic terminal, 207 passengers were screened. At Dhargal check-post total 819 passengers have been screened, while at Mollem check-post 665 passengers, till date. No patients were referred either to Hospicio Margao or to Asilo, Mapusa.
