MARGAO: Goa Bench of the Bombay High Court on Thursday granted interim relief to a student of G R Kare College of Law enabling him to answer his final semester examination and accordingly directed the Goa University and the college to let him answer.
The student Sharmad Pai Kane had earlier complained to the college management and the Vice Chancellor of Goa University that the principal of the college was discriminating against him by not allowing him to answer the exams even though he had sufficient attendance.
As there was no relief from them, he approached the High Court where he pointed out that some students who had less attendance than him were allowed to answer the exam and were stopped only when he protested against it.
He asserted that as per the college website where the students are asked to check their attendance, he had good attendance and further argued that the college was not sending the monthly attendance sheet to the Goa University nor displaying it on the notice board as is mandated.
The college in its defense said that Sharmad did not have the necessary attendance and also stated that the website was not working properly.
However, the court granted interim relief to Sharmad and permitted him to answer the exams. He was represented by Adv Gaurish Agni.
