PANJIM: Churchill Alemao is in denial mode on the statements made to the media on the Federation Cup, but HCN has video footage that clearly shows Churchill speaking his mind on the Federation Cup, on the injustice meted to him and his refusal to part with the prized possession – the Cup.
“Federation Cup muko asam. Cup dina. Tenko zattem korundi. Hanv Corta oitolom” (Federation Cup is with me. I’ll not give the Cup. Let them do whatever they want. I’ll go to court.)
Churchill has questioned the criteria system which has shunted his team out the tournament. “How did the new system suddenly come into force? We had won the Federation Cup in style and then we were told that we are out”, he lamented, while adding that his team has been thrown out deliberately.
“Where is the standard? India is placed at 165th position in the world,” Churchill commented over the sorry state of affairs of football in India.
He said the India Super League (ISL) was purely entertainment and there is
no roadmap for youth development. “All old players were in focus and the presence of cricketers and Bollywood stars only added to the ‘festival’”,
he added.
