Health minister innaugurates ‘Emergency Care Centre’ in Canacona.

CANACONA: Health minister Vishwajeet Rane innaugurated an ‘Emergency
Care Unit’ the first of its kind in the state at Community Health Centre in
Canacona on Friday.

Canacona Community Health Centre built over a decade ago on
modem lines was always in the news for lack of proper medical facilities and
during medical emergencies patients had to be shifted to either Hospicio
hospital or GMC which most of the time resulted in loss of precious time during
which the patient could have been revived during extreme emergencies resulting
in avoidable loss of lives.

The ‘Emergency Care Centre’ managed by GVK EMRI the first of
its kind in Goa introduced in Canacona having machinery and specialized doctors
who will be available 24 hours for accidental, snake bites, cardiac and any
other heath emergencies was innaugurated on Friday at Canacona Community Health
Centre (CHC) by Health minister Vishwajeet Rane in the presence of local MLA
Isidore Fernandes, former MLA Vijay Pai Khot, chairperson of Canacona municipal
Council (CMC) Chaya Soiru Komarpant, deputy chairperson Sham Sundar Desai,
other councillors, director of health services Dr Sanjeev Dalvi, OSD to health
minister Dr. Rajananda Desai, cardiologist Dr. Guruprasad Naik, GVK EMRI in
charge Dr. Purthi Parker, health officer CHC Dr. Shaba Gaonkar and hundreds of
enthusiastic locals.

Speaking after lighting the traditional lamp during the
inaugural ceremony of the Emergency Care Centre health minister Vishwajeet Rane
said that he is concerned about the difficulties faced by the locals staying in
remote talukas like Canacona and hence started this facility which will take
care of emergencies arising out of accidents, snake bites or any other medical
emergencies he said. Adding further he said that better facilities will be
added at CHC in future so that the medical needs of the locals can be taken
care of.

Canacona MLA Isidore Fernandes during his adress thanked the
health minister for showing concern to the medical needs of the people from the
taluka, former MLA Vijay Pai Khot and chairperson of Canacona municipality
Chaya Soiru Komarpant amongst others also spoke on the occasion.
