PANJIM: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane inspected the ongoing works of the upcoming super-specialty hospital block at Goa Medical College, Bambolim on Friday night.
Rane said the work on this project, funded by the Central government, would be fast tracked. As he inspected the work along with the hospital authorities, Rane assured that the hospital, which is being built under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana will provide super specialty health care to patients.
“Our former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar had initiated this project which is being taken ahead by present Chief Minister Pramod Sawant. This is one of the biggest projects to be executed under PM Swasth Suraksha Yojana and equipment will be procured through the Central Government as we want a fully-fledged hospital. The project is on fast track,” he said emphasising that they are contemplating on promoting medical tourism through this project.
The foundation stone for the 500-bed modern hospital was laid in 2018. It has been proposed that tertiary hospital’s existing super specialty will be shifted to the new block while the new ones will be added. “Our Goan patients need not travel to another State for availing super specialty treatment, once this hospital is complete and is commissioned. We will provide the best treatment,” Rane added.
Another milestone for Goa Medical College, to partner with #Streetprovidence, an NGO dedicated to taking care of destitutes and homeless? Rane said.
