It may be recalled that on May 19, following a surprise inspection by Sarpanch Sahar Shaikh, Deputy Sarpanch Deepak Mangalam and Secretary Uday Prabhudessai asked the people to immediately stop the work.
Noor Nadaf, who had sold a plot admeasuring 500 sq mts to four different persons who had themselves subdivided this plot and started constructing their respective houses in an area of a little over 100 sq mts and had also encroached upon the traditional water way.
Deepak Mangalam, who is also the local panch had called the people to the panchayat on May 22 with their documents, where it was established that the sale deed was not executed and they only had an agreement for sale.
Deepak had in the presence of the villagers directed them to stop their construction activity till they get their papers done properly and hence the work was stopped. Secretary Prabhudessai claimed to have no knowledge about the work being undertaken but admitted that the panchayat has issued construction licences to two parties in the area, which appear to be different from the one who is doing the work.
