High Court grants bail to Sukhwinder Singh in Sonali Phogat death case

PANJIM: The High Court of Bombay at Goa on Wednesday granted bail to Sukhwinder Singh, one of the accused in the Sonali Phogat death case.

The bail application of Singh in this matter was rejected by a lower court earlier, after which he appealed before the High Court for relief.

The High Court granted bail to Sukhwinder Singh on the condition that he surrenders his passport, be present for investigation before the CBI as and when called and not leave Goa.

In August 2022, the Haryana BJP leader and Tiktok star Sonali Phogat had died in mysterious circumstances at Curlies restaurant in Anjuna. Two accused Sukhw-inder Singh and Sudhir Sangwan, who were seen with her on the fatal night, were arrested. They are facing charges for the death of Phogat and also offences under NDPS act.

After testifying over 100 witnesses, the CBI had filed a chargesheet in December. Meanwhile, the main accused Sudhir Pal Sangwan got bail in the NDPS case in a lower court earlier.
