PANJIM: The capital city came alive in a riot of colours, music, and culture
during the annual Shigmo festival, showcasing the vibrant heritage of Goa through traditional dances and a parade of elaborate floats.
The float parade that snaked down D B Road commenced in the presence of Director of Tourism Suneel Anchipaka, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Omvir Singh Bishnoi and Panjim Shigmotsav Samiti office-bearers. Anchipaka said, “Shigmotsav is not just a festival; it is a celebration of our shared heritage, our rich culture, and our unwavering sense of community. The floats were mostly based on Hindu mythological scenes. The parade also included romtamell, folk dances and fancy-dress contests.
