CURCHOREM: Quepem MLA and Deputy Chief Minister Chandrkant (Babu) Kavlekar on Friday inaugurated the work of construction of gutters, retaining wall, hot mixing and road widening work by spending around Rs 2.60 crores at Padamol, Deumoll and Igramoll in Quepem constituency.
Quepem Municipal Council Vice-Chairperson Chetan Haldankar, councillor Luiza Carvalho, Paulo Fernandes, ex-Chairperson Caitaninha (Catty) Fernandes, Piety Fernandes, Assistant Engineer Sawpnil Naik and Junior Engineer Rohan Dessai were present on the occasion.
On the occasion, Kavlekar said that new bus stand would be constructed at Karali on Quepem-Margao road alogn with a building where a picture theater is planned. “Besides bus stand a new building for police station has been proposed as the condition of Quepem police station is in poor as it was build during Portuguese era,” Kavleakr said adding that this year for the first time a government sponsored Carnival will be celebrated in Quepem town on February 23.
Meanwhile, Kavleakr distributed Griha Adhhar sanction orders to504 beneficiaries from Quepem constituency during the function held at Quepem Municipal hall, recently.
