PANJIM: Police have directed the hoteliers and casino operators to maintain photographic evidence of all the guests and also copy of Aadhar or EPIC card as their photo identity proofs.
The directions were issued at a meeting of around 40 hoteliers, casino operators and managements of restaurants, malls, etc which was chaired by Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Vivek HP in the presence Dy SP Uttam Raut Dessai and Panjim Police Inspector Sudesh Naik.
In the advisory to the managements, Police said “The photos of all the guests checking in the hotel may be clicked at the reception counter and kept for the record. A CCTV camera facing the check-in counter may be installed.”
The advisory further stated, “Hotel management should ask for each guest’s proof of identity with photograph, preferably identity card issued by the Election Commission of India, Aadhar card, etc keeping a legible photocopy of the same for the record.”
For foreign nationals, Police have made it mandatory to fill up the online form available on the Bureau of Immigration website.
To keep a track of the calls that are made from the stay facility, police has directed to install caller identification facility in all the telephonic connections in the hotels.
Apart from these specific guidelines, general security related guidelines on stationing trained security guards at the entrance and exits, a complete background check of employees and proper CCTV camera coverage within and outside the premises.
