CURCHOREM: A huge Jamun tree crashed on a house due to heavy rains and wind at Nirabhag-Sanvordem, on Wednesday night.
The house owner Modhu Soiru Naik reportedly suffered a loss of around Rs 1.50 lakh. However, Naik and his wife escaped unhurt in the tree fall.
Later on Thursday morning, the tree was cleared by a team from Curchorem Fire and Emergency Services led by Fire Fighter D G Naik.
Speaking to Herald locals demanded that since Naik is staying alone with his wife and they have no sufficient source of income, the government must provide them help to repair their house.
Local panch Sanjay Naik urged the government and local MLA to provide the family financial help to rebuild their damaged house.
Local Sarpanch Sandeep Pauskar who had visited the site informed that he has assured the family financial help through the panchayat and Disaster Management Fund from the government.
