House gives committee 6 months to present report on Police Bill

PANJIM, MARCH 23 The Goa Assembly today passed a motion extending time for presentation of report of Select Committee on Goa Police Bill, 2008, for a period of six months.

The Goa Assembly today passed a motion extending time for presentation of  report of Select Committee on Goa Police Bill, 2008, for a period of  six months.
It may be recalled that the Goa Police Bill, 2008 was referred to a Select Committee last year and as it was a big exercise to go through important clauses in the bill, extension of time was sought.
Similarly, the House also granted extension to the Select Committee on Goa Co-operative Societies  (Amendment) Bill 2008 to present its report by six months from tomorrow.
The assembly also approved to rename the select committee on Goa Co-operative Societies (Amendment) Bill 2008 as the Select Committee on Goa Cooperative Societies Act 2001.
The two motions were moved by Home Minister Ravi Naik who is also the minister for Co-operation.
By another motion, the House agreed for extension of time for presentation of  Report on Select Committee on Goa Succession, Special Notaries and Inventory Proceedings Bill, 2008, for a further period of six months from 24th March 2009.
