MAPUSA: A house owned by one Bibishan Vithu Tamhankar located at Oxel, Siolim gutted in fire and damaging household items estimated around Rs 2 lakh, on Thursday.

According to information obtained from the Mapusa Fire Station, Police Control Room received a call at 4 am informing that a house had caught fire.
Immediately, a team of Mapusa Fire Station rushed to the spot. However, by the time, the residents of the area had managed to get the situation under control. Later, the fire personnel completely dozed off the fire.
In the fire, doors, electricity wiring of the house, documents, computer system, table, laptop, printer, cash Rs 30,000 and grocery items gutted.
No casualty was reported since the family members were sleeping in their other house.
The owner claimed that this is the second incident in the last six years and informed that there are electricity wires passing overhead of their house. He suspected that the overhead wires may have led to a short circuit to cause fire.
The owner has sought financial assistance from the local panchayat and the government.
