BICHOLIM: A house collapsed in Mayem due to incessant rains and the office of mamlatdar has issued directives to residents of Sal and other surrounding villages not to venture into rivers.
A mud house belonging to one Sagun Perni in Mayem collapsed causing a loss of about Rs 35,000 due to heavy rainfall along accompanied by gusty winds.
Mamlatdar Pravinjay Pandit has advised the officials of Captain of Ports and Drishti lifeguards to be stationed at the control room at Bicholim.
Additional boats were also stationed at the office of Sal panchayat. Based on the instructions from the Tillari Irrigation office, WRD executive engineer reported that excess water would be released from the gates of Tillari dam.
Through a notice, the mamlatdar ordered the inhabitants of the Sal, Menkurem and other villages on the banks of River Chapora not to venture into the river water and to take necessary precautionary measures.
