VASCO: A hotel in Vasco was raided by the Excise officials who seized five cartons of beer and 12 bottles of liquor.
The customers at the hotel were aggrieved due to the sudden raid and search operation done by the excise officials inside their rented rooms for liquor bottles.
Excise Department Superintendent Milagres Soares along with Excise Inspector of Vasco Rajesh Salelkar raided the hotel for illegally selling liquor. After a search operation, officials were unable to find liquor bottles in the hotel. Therefore officials decided to do search operation inside the rented rooms of the hotel.
When contacted, Soares said that some liquor bottles and five cartons of beer were seized by them from the hotel rooms. He said that on a complaint received by the Excise Commissioner that a hotel is selling liquor without having renewed licence, this raid was conducted.
Admitting that they entered the rooms and seized the liquor bottles, Soares claimed that they have power to enter the rooms.
