MAPUSA: A house owned by Sanghya Dongarkar near the Ravalnath temple in Pomburpa was partially damaged after it caught fire in the wee hours of Friday.
The control room of the Mapusa Fire services received an emergency call at 2.35 am and a team of fire fighters headed by sub officer Ashok Parab was immediately deputed to fight the blazes.
The owner estimated a loss of Rs 85,000, while the firefighters managed to save property worth Rs 2 lakh.
Two motorcycles, a mattress, wooden articles and other household items were gutted. The cause of the fire is suspected to be a short-circuit and the Mapusa fire services will be writing to the electricity department and police to ascertain the exact cause.
